The National Stock Exchange's benchmark Nifty gained 6.74 per cent in 2013, led by defensive and exporters. The BSE Sensex ended the year 2013 with a 8.98 per cent gain.
The Nifty ended a rangebound session on a positive note above 6,300 mark led by gains in IDFC, Jaiprakash Associates, Tata Power and UltraTechCement.
The 50-share index ended at 6,303.15, up 12.05 points or 0.19 per cent. It touched a high of 6,317.30 and a low of 6,287.30 in trade today.
The S&P BSE Sensex closed at 21,169.93, up 26.92 points or 0.13 per cent. It touched a high of 21,230.88 and a low of 21,122.68 in trade today.
